| 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful  Happiness is a hot cup of tea, By This review is from: Hamilton Beach Ensemble Cord Free Pouring Kettle (Kitchen) I've been wanting an electric kettle for awhile and after looking at various models, settled either on this one or a Kalorik 1.7 electric kettle, well actually I bought both, the Kalorik just isn't here yet.But so far I'm very happy with this Hamilton Beach cordless kettle, one, it matches our coffee maker almost perfectly in color, which is a Kenmore btw. And this kettle, heats water to a boil very fast, under 6 minutes with cold water. My husband and I went to various stores and looked at electric kettles, or at least as many as we could find in this area. Some of the designs we found, were hard to handle and were ungainly to pour. At first I didn't think I was going to like the roundness of the base of the jug, there was a space issue that I felt the Kaloric in its more compact oval shape would be better suited for the space that I need to keep it at. I timed it to boil 1.7L of water (the max. limit) in 6 1/2 minutes. This morning, when I only needed 2 cups of water, I think it reached boil in just a couple of minutes. You need to follow the instructions and initially bring 4 pots of water to boil and then dump to get rid of funny tastes from new materials, but after that it works perfectly. I love that I don't have to turn on the stove in this summer heat to boil water.
