Note it is 1.2 liter - sometime it is very nice to have this slightly smaller size (most of the cordless kettles seem to be about 1.7 liter). It has a stainless/metal body for those who hate plastic. Well designed placement of plastic so that the hands are protected from hot metal. This includes on the handle, and on the lid for popping it open or for habitual holding of the top while pouring. Weighting is nice, it seems balanced when holding it filled with water.Design was fine. Lid pops open. Top opening is a little small for my hands to reach in if I wanted to scrub it out. Element is not exposed, however, so just clean space for the water. Kettle has the usual inside mesh filter on the pour-spout. Compared to the Tfal vitesse 1.7 liter (which I have 3 and have been using for years)- it is a bit more important to not fill above the 'max' fill line. It looks big in the picture, in the actuality it looks much smaller. The residue still builds up on the sides and on the bottom of the kettle. The opening is so small its very hard to fit even a finger in there. The residue trap is very hard to clean, I havent even attempted to clean it out. Also the mesh is not that fine so it allows a lot of the residue in your cup. It is impossible to clean with hands, the only way to do it is put vinegar every week or so to get rid of the residue. Also when the lid opens it stays directly above the kettle so its very hard to fill it. Have to get a cup or something else and pour water from the side. Cant just put the kettle in the sink and allow water to go in because the lid does not come off. Also be careful as the metal surface gets really hot.I should have exchanged it for my money back but I had too much stuff going on at that moment. If I... Read more 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful  Small footprint, but poor design & construction., This review is from: SPT 1.2-Liter Stainless Cordless Kettle (Kitchen) Pro: Small footprint, light, heats water, and one isn't likely to touch the hot surfaces accidentally.Con: Hard to fill and clean due to small opening and spout; water level gauge hidden behind one's hand as one fills it; unnecessarily noisy due to small (pencil-sized) heating element. On mine (same model, but not from Amazon), the lower handle was attached by a single, stripped M3 screw threaded(?) into a thin, sheet-metal bracket. Then, I had to drill out a plastic plug to replace it. So... the handle detached after 3 months of use, but it's still in use after my repairs. I wouldn't buy another one. If SPT had called this version a prototype, then designed it right, they probably could have made a good teapot. As it is... don't waste your money. |
