I've had the tea kettle for a month so far and like it. It's easy to pour and the handle is a good size. I also love how the on switch is on top, I have had leakage in other tea kettles around the on switch on the bottom. My only problem with it is that the picture is slightly misleading. All of the Brentwood tea kettles are photographed in a way that there is a black strip on the side. I had thought this was a decorative strip of black plastic, and it was my favorite feature of the kettle, however the black is just a shadow on the steel. I'm happy enough with the kettle, so it's not a problem, but heads up if you want the kettle for the design, or if you don't like it because of the design. Apart from the base, the lid and the handle, it's all steel.

My wife and I have used a Philips HD4651 for several years and, by comparison, this kettle just doesn't hold its own. The first issue is that there is no insulating layer and the outside of the pot gets HOT. This is an issue for anyone with a habit of burning themselves in the kitchen (sorry, Honey). Secondly, there is no indicator sound to alert that the water has boiled, so, you know, the whole "watched pot" thing.... Finally, it. is. slow. I performed a side-by-side boiling contest versus the Philips (it still works, but it is dying...I don't want to talk about it...), same amount of water (1.7 liters) and the (several years) old HD4651 beat the new kid by 2 minutes and 15 seconds (8'30" vs 10'45"). That's over 25% longer! So, bottom line, this kettle is not a good fit for our house because we are impatient, like audible notifications, and are generally averse to third degree burns. However, in a more well adjusted home, this $[...] (plus shipping) model might work quite well.

I spent two weeks with my daughter who had an electric kettle, and fell in love with the convenience of it, as well as the speed with which her kettle produced boiling water--I do love my morning cappucino and evening tea.
So I decided to buy one like hers, but her model isn't available any more, and I found this one and purchased it primarily for the price, but also because I like how it looks.
Got it this week, and it is sitting on my counter being used two, three, or four times a day. I LOVE it, and would recommend this particular brand and model to anyone who wants an electric kettle. It's good looking and does exactly what I want it to do--boil water for my tea!
